Roger Ansell

Roger Ansell is the proprietor of the Twisted Wood Company. Roger has been a precision log house builder for over 20 years. Roger’s work naturally progressed toward his passion, the art of quality log home finishing. He loves to build railings, carve fireplace mantels, and create twisted wood staircases, inlay floors and do other quality finishing projects. Through this Roger developed and perfected his own totally unique style of artistic furniture using the beauty of naturally twisted logs. Roger, his wife Jocelyn (his business manager) and their two daughters live in the interior of British Columbia, Canada. This area is heavily forested making it possible for Roger to collect the unique and individual logs that are incorporated into his heirloom class furnishings.

Twisted Wood Furniture

Our Twisted wood furniture is crafted from twisted old growth Fir and Maple from Canadian forests. We utilize nature’s bends and turns. Careful design and woodworking take time but result in an exclusive high-end product of function and beauty.

The twisted logs that you see built into the furniture on this website are up to 70 years old. They were formed under old growth forest canopies, by trees or rocks falling on saplings and stunting their growth.

They are basically the same age as the forest that stood tall above them, and were salvaged from waste left by Forest Harvesting operations.

Country Charm Wood Furniture

Country Charm wood furniture and home accessories are affordable and will complement your decor. Our Country Charm product line is also carefully notched and crafted and designed to last.

Finishing

Furniture created by the ‘Twisted Wood Company’ undergoes a ten step finishing process, including peeling, grinding, and alternate stages of sanding and varnishing leaving all Furniture creations smooth, soft and rich to the touch.

Checking

Checking (or cracking) is a natural occurrence in all log curing; check sizes vary depending on different species of wood. Checking adds to the character of the particular piece of art and does not affect it's strength. To minimize checking, we collect wood in February or March when sap content is at its lowest .
